The Operational-Intervention Groups of the
Railway Security Guard
(Grupy Operacyjno-Interwencyjne Straży Ochrony Kolei)
were formed to fight organised crime on
railway premises. The Groups operate at each area of the
Railway Security Guard
in
Poland. The
groups operate full time, co-operating with each other. The training is
conducted at the Training Centres in Zbaszyn and Ilawa, and on the
training ground in Wedrzyn.
Police
instructors from
CT
units help in the training.
The Operational-
-Intervention Groups often carry out
reconnaissance and operations in plain clothes, which are aimed
at the detention of perpetrators. Bearing in mind the performed
tasks and signed agreements, the Operational-Intervention Groups
also co-operate with the
Police,
Municipal Guard,
Military Police,
Road Transport Inspection, Internal Revenue Service, and within
the border areas, with the
Polish Border Guard.
The groups are very well equipped to carry out
their tasks – they have tactical vests, bulletproof vests,
kevlar combat helmets (Californian DeltaForce3), goggles,
balaclavas, P99 pistols (of the Walther type), PM98s, elbow and
knee pads, shooting gloves and Hi-Tec boots at their disposal.
